Our six-week course covers all our educational elements in great depth and our FFK will benefit the most from this experience. Over the six-week period it allows us to achieve more progression on their knowledge, but also develop different skills including leadership, teamwork and confidence.

They will also have greater physiological benefits including stronger muscles, bones and cardiovascular fitness compared to the single session. With the ‘pass out session’ on the final week they will also have a huge sense of achievement and success.

One session a week for 6 consecutive weeks. All topics are age dependant and will be tailored to the schools needs.

High Intensity Interval Training
Each HIIT session will focus on different elements within the fire service e.g. Breathing Apparatus and Road Traffic Collisions to make it an active story. These sessions will also develop different skills including leadership, teamwork and confidence. They will hit the child’s daily exercise recommendations and have playful warm ups and cool downs. Demonstrating the correct structure to an exercise session.
Hiit is High Intensity Interval training. This style of training gets our FFK to work at 100% for a short period of time and then they will get time to recover. They will be working to their own personal max. Completing functional exercises without even realising and most importantly enjoying it.

It is recommended that 60 minutes of physical activity a day raging from moderate to vigorous exercise will help keep 5 – 18 year olds fit and healthy. On 3 days a week theses activities should involve exercises for strong muscles like push ups and exercises for strong bones like running and jumping. A rule of thumb is that 1 minute of vigorous activity provides the same health benefits as 2 minutes of moderate activity.
So our 30-minute HIIT sessions hit all of these goals and allow children of all different abilities to work out together all giving their maximum and achieving results.
As the exercises are all fire related we can once again reinforce the teaching points we have covered in the previous session
